LA Irish Film Fest announces selection
The La Irish Film Festival has introduced its program for that 2011 event, which runs Sept. 29 to March. 2. Opening evening event includes a celebration of actress Fionnula Flanagan, a screening of helmer John Michael McDonagh's comedy thriller "The Guard," starring Brendan Gleeson and Don Cheadle, along with a performance from soprano Judith Mok in the Academy of movement Picture, Arts and Sciences in Hollywood. The relaxation from the fest's tests will occur in the Aero Theater in Santa Monica. Included in this are the U.S. premiere of "Fantasizing the Quiet Guy," helmer Se Merry Doyle's documentary about the building of the classic John Ford movie starring John Wayne, and also the West Coast premiere of "The Swell Season," a docu about singer-songwriters Glen Hansard and Marketa Iglova, helmed by Nick August-Perna, Chris Dapkins and Carlo Mirabella.
